Target Audience This symposium is designed for primary care physicians, endocrinologists, nurses, dietitians, certified diabetes educators, and other healthcare professionals with an interest in pediatric diabetes care. Learning Objective At the end of this activity, the attendees should be able to: - Describe the challenges faced by students with diabetes, better enabling the school nurse to coordinate the implementation of care plans to meet individual student’s needs. - Explain relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines to enable the participant to advocate within the school system on behalf of the patients. - Identify and utilize resources available to assist training school nurses and school personnel and how to access the resources. - Describe recent Safe at School successes enhancing the ability students with diabetes to receive appropriate diabetes care at school.
